Spinach kohlrabi lettuce for beginners

It's unseasonable cold in the Midwest but that's ok cause the majority of my garden has thrived. My tomatoes are not thriving but I have hope and I can always replant if need be. I took a gamble because the weather was SO nice in march and as we all know in the end the house always wins . After two below freezing nights things are not looking good for my cherry tomatoes. I will need to thin out my spinach and my kohlrabi in the future but it's fine for now. I love my garden!! And thank you to my reader(s) for the positive comment(s) . Lol :-)

Beach body shakeology honest review

I have chosen the chocolate bananas shakeology .

1 serving chocolate shakeology
1 banana
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup non fat milk
Ice to taste.

Add to blinder and mix.

If you want to know what is in shakeology visit www.shakeology.com

The shake that I made was very thick. I liked that . I have tried a lot of meal replacement drinks and this one had the best mouth feel because of the thickness. I could drink this drink every day. I have it for breakfast because shakeology has so much more to offer then most all other breakfast foods. I am eager to try the iced coffee one. I hated the peanut butter one. They also offer a fruit shakeology that I bet would be a good fit with the new silk fruit drink. I guess you have to ask yourself what your goal is in drinking a product like this. I hate fruit so for me the thought of eating fruit every day for health and weight management is totally out of the question.
I feel that shakeology could actually replace a meal while others are more like snack replacements. It fills you up and levels out your blood sugars all while putting a Getty in your up.

update:  I have just finished my first shakeology cleanse.  It was easy,
shake for breakfast
one piece of fruit
cup of tea

snack is a piece of fruit

lunch is a shake
tea
one piece of fruit

snack is a piece of fruit and a third shake

dinner is a large green salad with 3 oz of chicken

no dairy, no added sugar, no soda, no nothing.
drink as much water as you like.
repeat for three days. no longer.

I did good on this cleanse. The cost is around 50.00 for the shake in the single packs from my coach but I purchase it by the bag.  I already love the shake so it was easy for me.  I usually drink the shake for breakfast mixing it with milk but on this cleanse I used water.  The first day was easy  but I was tired on day two and three.  I was able to drop five pounds and I feel that I have restarted my body.  I think this would be a good way to get over a plateau.

I'm not a doctor and I'm not suggesting this to or for anyone I'm just telling my story.

When to plant tomato in garden

When to plant tomato? This is a good question . The tomato is such a good plant to grow because it gives and gives and gives. Little effort with lots of reward. When the maple tree leaves have fully opened, it is safe to plant your tomato. But be smart about it. Only plant what you need because they can get ahead of you make a huge mess . Of you find you have over planted and exhausted all your friends and family then contact your local food pantry or soup kitchen .

garden growing 101

Today I added onions and garlic as well as spinach and colrobi ( ok so I may not know how to spell it but I sure know how to eat it). As fit my earlier post about watering a garden. A good place to get quality advise about gardening is your local 4-H club or a old timer. I happen to know both. Guess what I learned .... They say that you very rarely need to water unless your under a drought. The roots need to grow deep into the ground and the best way to force that is by not watering. If you water to much then you will have shallow roots. Who knew? So I'm going to give it a try. God bless my cute little garden.

Watering a garden

Ok so I may sound like a fool for asking but I'm sure I'm not the only one. This is my first time to have a garden that I'm doing solo. It's hard to know how much water to give a house plant little own a entire garden. The one thing I can tell you is that every house plant that I have ever purchased has been over watered. So when I bring it home I let it get good and dry before I worry about it. I also know that it is said to be better to soak a plant once a week rather then sprinkle it every day. I guess the answer to the question is stick you finger in the dirt and if it is dry then get it wet. My mil told me that she never waters her garden

Garden tomato husky cherry red

It looks like the risk of transplant shock is over. I have a few yellow flowers already. I'm so excited that my little adventure into the world of gardening has started so well. I thank the good Lord above for the help with watering.

My new garden

I planted my first garden ever today. It's not finished but then again they never are. I have put a fair share of research into this project. I have planned out the location of each row and each plant. I purchased small plants this go round because I wanted to ensure a crop. I have had little success with seeds. My garden is a 10x10 area surrounded my chicken wire ( to keep cats out) , I know that is a small garden but I figure that I can add to it in the years to come pending success. I have red lettuce, romaine lettuce, red yellow green and orange bell peppers, and two cherry tomatoes. It still gets pretty chilly at night in the Chicago area so I'm waiting for a pinch before I add the other plants. The weather man said to expect rain for the next five days so that should help the process. I would like to have a rain water collector but I don't want to give $100.00 for it. I have seen planes for DIY water collections but quite frankly I have all my time and energy spent in the gardens and house and three young children. I have a way to go before I can put anything on the dinner plate but I'm excited about the prospects. Wish me luck, I'm gonna need it. ;-).
